Skyfall joins an exclusive list

Sony and MGM’s Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes, has now accomplished the great feat of earning $1 billion at the worldwide box office, thus placing it on a very exclusive list. Skyfall, the 23rd film in the James Bond franchise, is actually the third film to cross the billion dollar mark this year; the other two being Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers and Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises. As of the end of 2012, the billion dollar list now totals at 14 films, the top two directed by James Cameron; Avatar and Titanic.
