7 Awesome Star Wars Stories That Should Be Made Into Film
“The Mandalorian Wars were a series of massacres that masked another war, a war of conversion. Culminating in a final atrocity that no Jedi could walk away from… save one.” – Kreia (yeah that bitch)
Why they should make it:
Probably one of the most interesting stories in the Star Wars universe is that of the Mandalorian Wars. The Mandalorians themselves are a strength-centric band of warriors that seek only to fight those worthy. Most of us know of the Jedi and the Sith, but not of the Mandalorians, yet they were the ones that essentially caused the two Force users to betray one another and fight to the death. The Mandalorian Wars can be considered the greatest and biggest galactic war in the Star Wars universe. Why wouldn’t you want to see that in theaters?
During the Great Sith War, Mandalore the Indomitable and his Mandalorian Crusaders traveled the galaxy looking for a worthy foe, and that’s when they came across the Sith Lord Exar Kun. After Mandalore challenged Kun to a duel and lost, he pledged his entire Crusader army to the Sith, thus to pure evil. They swept across the galaxy destroying worlds by conquering the Republic and its Jedi Knights.
Their campaign came to an end in the Third Battle of Onderon, where the Crusaders were overwhelmed by native beasts and the Republic’s reinforcements. To survive, they retreated to a nearby moon, but crash landed in the escape. Mandalore the Indomitable was killed upon landing, but one of his Crusaders discovered his mask after some time and claimed his right as the new Mandalore. Their Sith allies were also defeated in the nearby system Yavin 4.
After the Galactic Republic and its Jedi guardians wiped out the Sith and their master Exar Kun, the Great Sith War ended, thus beginning the Restoration Period. After a short time of rebuilding, the Mandalorians began their conquest to retake their place in the galactic society. They started attacking territories in the Outer Rim; and Republic forces fought them, but it wasn’t enough. They needed help, but the Jedi Council was afraid and did nothing to help–except one. The Jedi Revan and his pupil, Malak, gathered a group of Jedi to repel an impending invasion by the Mandalorians.
Meanwhile in Taris, one of the Republic’s territories, the Jedi Council there envisioned the return of the Sith and it was one of their pupils that will be leading the charge. Terrified by the vision, the Jedi Masters slaughtered all the Padawans (one survived) and abandoned the planet; leaving it in utter chaos.
Hearing about this, the new Mandalore saw it as an opportunity and delivered the first direct strike at the Republic by invading Taris. This is where the real Mandalorian War began.
…there is a lot more to the story that I don’t want to spoil.
Oh, and FYI–Boba Fett is a Mandalorian warrior.
