The most recent and probably most notable on the list is the surprising paranormal horror film entry at the 2007 ScreamFest, Paranoral Activity. Credited as being the most profitable film ever made–in accordance with return-on-investment ratio–Paranormal Activity had a mere $15,000 budget, which turned around made a whopping $193 million at the worldwide box office. Plus it spawned a new revolution in the horror/thriller genre; one that focuses more on the basic things that scare humans every single day, and not the run-of-the-mill serial killer with a knives for fingers.
