Over the past summer, The CW announced that they were developing an Arrow spin-off based on the DC Comics character The Flash (Barry Allen) and that the character would be appearing in three episodes of the upcoming second season of Arrow, but that has now changed a bit.
The Flash, played by Grant Gustin, will still appear in episodes 8 and 9 of Arrow season 2, but will not get the backdoor pilot that was originally decided upon. Now, Arrow season 2 episode 20 will be a normal episode and The Flash will get a traditional pilot come fall 2014. The two Arrow episodes will serve as an origin story for the iconic character.
“BARRY ALLEN is a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.”
The CW has now released the first look at Grant Gustin as The Flash/Barry Allen on Arrow. (Above)
